Gobble Up 11/7/2026

MCC GOBBLE UP 11/7/2026:  A short climb up Chapman Road (Hill) for the local food pantry.  A fun event for all, challenging the us to see if our cycling legs can still do the hill so late in the season.  This is for all levels, and in the spirit of the holidays to help those in need.  No fee, but you do get a time handicap for the food items you donate.

Can't ride, drop by and drop off food items. If there are enough drops offs, we may raffle the time off to a lucky cyclist(s) making the climb. Or just come join the fun and cheer others on.

Look for the ride posting and email update to go out regarding the requested items, and the time value to each.  Parking is at the City of Keen Public Works Department, 350 Marlboro St, Keene, NH 03431 just next to the Keen Ice Rink.  Please park on the far left of the lot for the Public Works spaces. Food drop off at the parking lot 12:30 -1:00 pm. (Please respect the time frame as the volunteers need to log items before they ride the challenge. It you can provide a log of your own donations that always helps.)

It's an quick roll over to the start location where the Cheshire Rail Trail intersects with Eastern Avenue, and just opposite the bottom of Chapman Road.  Start is at 1 PM, with riders set off in 3 minute intervals.

To run this event, we need a few volunteers to be food collectors, ride starters, and timers.  The overall time commitment will vary as everyone chips in to relieve one another. If you would like to help run this event, check out the Volunteers tab on the club webite and touch base with Dan McInerney

  1. Food Collectors:  Collect and sort food into boxes at the parking lot, and transport over the the Kitchen early next week.  One or two collectors is all that is needed.
  2. Timers:  Shifts of three timers: Start at the base of Chapman Hill, Finish at the top of Chapman Hill, and Data entry at the top of Chapman Hill.  The more volunteers the better, as the multiple shifts allows for volunteers to participate in this fun community event.
